Get to know the new trends of the area that is changing the world of entertainment, and a new product of etermax that will revolutionize live broadcasting.

What happens when Gaming folklore meets a new paradigm of content creation and consumption and a young audience, eager to interact and form communities? Among other things, an explosion of streaming platforms, undoubtedly fueled by over a year of digital socialization.

On sites like Twitch, YouTube Gaming, Facebook Gaming or the now defunct Mixer, a global audience was consolidated, which originated around video games but is evolving towards something more.

Streaming became mainstream

In 2020, 1.2 billion people watched GVC, also known as gaming video content, 18% more than the previous year, contributing to an income of 9.3 billion dollars. This category includes the professional competitions of esports, which according to Newzoo have a global audience of 436 million viewers and a turnover of around 1 billion dollars annually. But also, mostly, amateur players who share gameplays, reviews and talks. Some of them have become real celebrities, with millions of followers and great professional opportunities.

With a share of 22% of the market, Twitch is the leading GVC platform, followed by YouTube Gaming and Facebook Gaming. More than 30 million users go online every day (on average, there are 2,5 million online viewers at any given time) to see over 7 million content creators.

In the last year the Amazon platform grew 117% in viewing hours, going from 941 million per month to more than 2 billion. Facebook Gaming showed a similar leap: a growth of 118%, but from 200 to 439 million hours.

Perhaps what sets Twitch apart is that while it was born to stream video games, its scope broadened over time. Today the most viewed category of the site is Just Chatting: during 2020 viewers spent 240 millions of hours watching streamers talk about life itself.

Meanwhile, from the American political campaign to fashion shows have found their place on Twitch, which is increasingly calling the brand’s attention. This shows there is a broad, diverse audience, which is interested in many different things. For all these reasons, for many experts Twitch is the new television, especially among the youngest.

A new proposal in VX

Facing this global trend, etermax, the international technology company that created global phenomena such as Trivia Crack and Word Crack, launches Trivia Crack for Twitch.

The new Trivia Crack proposal expands the universe of cross-platform entertainment based on trivia and allows streamers to enhance the user experience in their streams for free. This playful tool allows a better interaction and connection with the users, with the possibility of rewarding those who obtain the highest final score.

It’s a real-time trivia challenge in which hosts from all around the world can create their own trivia shows via Twitch. Once the streamer activates the extension, followers can register to participate and whoever answers more questions correctly in the shortest time, will be the winner. Usernames and scores will appear at the end of the game in a ranking. Trivia Crack for Twitch is now available as an open extension in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Are you looking for a custom-made solution?

Brands, on the other hand, can work with the etermax Brand Gamification team to develop a custom version of the extension, with its own look and feel. They can choose between customized trivia, accompanied by fun facts for the host to share in between questions, or the Super Quiz format, a survey to get to know viewers more.

With this tool, brands, broadcasters and consumers gain a new connection and entertainment space, which changes the dynamics of streaming.
