Skeptics of Global Goals
In the last few days after I took up my initiative for the Climate Action goal among the 17 goals, named as Global Goals, set by the United Nations to make the planet more sustainable for the future generations and to shelter the world from various impending dangers that are threatening it, I tried to spread awareness about the initiative to a lot of people around me. But I was surprised when I received a blunt response from a number of people who opined that this is just a propaganda by the world leaders to make believe a good act. Many people with whom I tried discussing did not trust the campaign to be of good intentions. They were firmly rooted in their opinion that none of the so called world leaders are really going to work towards the benefit of the planet or any of its people.
Yes, that is an unfortunate possibility. But I have different thoughts there. So, I wanted to speak out on that.
I personally believe that the Global Goals initiative is not really about world leaders forcing their countries to particularly work towards reforming something and change the world. Rather, at the core of it, this is really about us, about each and every one of us living on the planet now. It is primarily because of us that our planet’s face is promptly changing — our consumption of natural resources, our outlook towards environment, our way of life, our mindset towards fellow humans — their race and colour and social and financial statuses — all put together are shaping the way we evolve as mankind.
I strongly believe that during many global events and incidents whatever the scale of experience we go through, we go through it as a species. When a financial collapse happens its repercussions are faced by many families around the world, when the summer temperatures of a country increases, all the people living there will taste the consequence. When a state faces drought, it cripples down the food production of the entire region while also affecting those that depended on it. On a subconscious level this shows us how interlaced all of our lives and lifestyles are.
Really, if you take a keen look at it, you can witness what a splendid design our mankind is!

Hence, I completely believe that it is only logical for us to personally take up and act towards something that would do good to the entire world. This is possible by choosing a goal from the designed 17, and incorporate it into our lifestyles. There would surely be something of an idea which, as a human being, you care for and want to spread it for the world to prosper in that path. The 17 goals opted by the UN widely cover all that is necessary for the world to leap ahead into a better future.
So, let us pick up a Global Goal and do something for the world without worrying about whether the intentions of leaders and policitians are honest towards this initiative. Because, at the end, whatever we do to the world we do it to ourselves, so why not do some good!
