It’s A Choice, Not A Necessity
(I wrote it when I witnessed a broken marriage in the middle of the ceremony.)
The bride and the groom thrown in the pit of shame
It was not their mistakes we said
But for some it does not matter
For they got another topic to talk about.
What led it to happen in the first place we asked
Some says the bride some says groom
We say the elders for whom marriage was a necessity
For whom children getting married is an achievement
But we say marriage is a choice.
Marriage is not a long jump nor a pole vault
That will win us an Olympic medal
But it’s a life that goes well with wise decision
With blessings from few
But not a garland that strangles.
Marriage is not a family drama tv series nor a movie
That will win us an Oscar
But it’s a real life with an ending
Not after a few episodes but till the last breath we breathe.
