It’s tricky to rock a conf that’s right on time, it’s TRICKY

The Department of Decentralization is always looking for relevant partners to fulfil our mandate to support initiatives for the broader community, such as the Goerli Testnet and the B9 labs Community Blockstars education program.

Run EVM is the first event focused on the Ethereum Virtual Machine, targeted at people who are interested in sharing information, learning about new sidechain approaches, making connections with potential partners and customers, and working together to improve and extend the EVM specification. The smart contract stack on top of the EVM is the largest in the world, and further adoption for the use cases outside of main-net Ethereum are only making it bigger.

After talking to many different groups about their ideas for the evolution of the EVM, SPADE began to discover that the EVM was used much more broadly than just main-net Ethereum. Realising that there was such a large community with shared interests, they decided to put on an event which gathered everyone together, to share latest work, and to kick off further collaboration in a global community.

“There are alternate chains that just inherit the main specification, but then there are also groups like Hyperledger or JP Morgan’s Quorum that maintain their own implementation. We even found that Microsoft Research had implemented an MIT-licensed EVM targeted at running inside secure enclave, and all of them in one way or another tie into the smart contract languages and tooling that execute on the EVM.”
