We get by with a little help from our friends, so it’s time to meet the Sponsors.

Another year, another extravaganza. We are still adamant that Berlin is one of the most important locations in the world for decentralized technology and to prove this we have received some amazing support this year, we are truly overwhelmed, and as you all know, at the Department of Decentralization we pledget to give every penny of it to The Hackers and running the hackathon. We don’t charge for tickets, and we don’t charge for anything inside the conference and we are strictly grass roots, so to simply say we rely on funding from the ecosystem is an understatement. Cryptowinter hit, and people are focusing their budgets elsewhere but we stand by the importance of bringing the community together, nothing beats face to face interaction in order for all the talent in our industry to collaborate and ship products that work towards our end goal.

We haven’t reached the goal to book Beyonce for the opening ceremony yet but we are still working on that so we will keep you posted. However, we would like to start announcing, and thanking all our wonderful sponsors, because they need a damn shout out for putting up with our begging. We spoke to all of them to find out why they want to support our crazy ass team in putting on the event of the year and here’s what they told us…

First we would like to welcome back some ETHBerlin OG’s. NuCypher absolutely smashed it last year with their winning team and we are thrilled that they will be joining us again! “Before we wrapped up ETHBerlin 2018 we already had ETHBerlin 2019 earmarked on our team calendar. ETHBerlin serves more than a hackathon for us at NuCypher. Since we are a distributed team we utilize ETHBerlin as destination point where the entire NuCypher team descends upon Berlin for multiple weeks of team face time. Last year, we participated as sponsors but also decided to form a team and hack. To our delight we ended up winning the hackathon with, “Sputnik”, the first fully homomorphic smart contract executed on chain. This year we hope to bring something different but equally special along with us, a fully working public testnet for hackers to #buidl on. Look out for our bounties and workshops by following our twitter or discord for the latest updates.”

Big shout out to Status too for their support this year! We are very excited to welcome this team that is an integral part of the community. Here’s what they said about why they are back to support this year, “EthBerlin brings together a truly amazing collection of people from around the world. A diverse group of builders, thinkers, makers, and everything in between with a common goal of making Web3 a reality. Open, inclusive, and highly talented people all coming together under one roof is a great expression of the EthBerlin community, and we are happy to support. Sponsoring EthBerlin allows us to connect with this community in a very personal manner and last year we saw some very interesting teams build impressive projects with Status. We look forward to seeing what people come up with this year.”

Another welcome back to AdEx! After last year’s hackathon they couldn’t resist sponsoring again because they felt they were able to connect really well with the community last year, “We supported ETHBerlin in 2018 and the event was a huge success for us — we met fantastic coders, had many meaningful conversations with the Ethereum community members, and made invaluable connections. This is why we didn’t think twice about backing up ETHBerlin Zwei — needless to say, we have great expectations about it!“ Thanks team AdEx! With your support we will be able to exceed those expectations again this year.

Praise be! We are really proud to announce that one of our main sponsors this year, is none other than Consensys. They will be bringing some great stuff to this year’s event and we couldn’t be happier to work with a great team on providing an all round experience. “ConsenSys is thrilled to support ETHBerlin and showcase our continued support for the Ethereum community! We are excited to meet with BUIDLers, showcase fresh suites of developer tools, hand out prizes with Bounties Network, and review hackathon projects submitted for our ConsenSys Grants track. ConsenSys Meshians and graduates will mentor, judge, hack, and speak at the event. Come find our booth on August 23rd and feel free to check out our developer resources here today”

Welcome to the ETHBerlinZwei community to first-timers, Arweave! “We are thrilled to be joining forces with ETHBerlin to support our local thriving tech community and share our journey. Every month, dozens of new permaweb apps are being built by the vibrant Arweave network with many more in development. We can’t wait to see what our local community is going to create!”

Next sponsor to announce is… Aave! They are looking forward to collaboration opportunitues the most, “We expect ETHBerlin to be a great occasion to link more and more with the community. All of us are building something great to change the world, and the more we know about each others’ projects, the better. Cooperation and knowledge make us stronger!”

Last project to announce in this edition of our sponsor announcements is Nervos. We are really loving the addition of new projects to the ETHBerlin ecosystem and we are very grateful to have these guys on board this year. Their reasons for joining are, (basically what we constantly preach), “Berlin has a reputation as the European cryptohub. It developed an incredibly interesting culture that is unlike anywhere else in the world to our knowledge. Where places like SF and Asia general tend to be more focused on commercial applications and end-user facing products that get adopted in the near-term, Berlin has focused far more on the utopian future that blockchains can enable. Berlin Blockchain Week is an event not be missed and EthBerlin is the event we most look forward to during the week. We were blown away by the energy and how well-organized everything was and decided immediately that we would sponsor the next time.”

That’s it for this round! More sponsors shall be revealed in upcoming posts, and if the FOMO has kicked in and you still want to support the event get in touch via joinus@ethberlin.com.

P.s. Us right now…
