EthVC at EthCC: Where To Invest Next
2019 marked the first decade of blockchain technology, and it is here to stay.
However, even though the ecosystem is rapidly developing, the growth of the industry’s startups remains mainly endogenous. There are a few well-known VC-backed blockchain startups: Circle, Coinbase, Bitwal… however, many remain to be discovered and pushed to the next level. The blockchain ecosystem remains uncharted territory for most traditional investors, while numerous talented technical blockchain entrepreneurs may not have the network or experience to go down the path of more traditional VC-led fundraises.
Along with cheerful stories of startups finding co-founders, collaborators and eventually also investors at EthCC, here is the feedback we’ve received after the first two editions of our conference: we should help connect startups and investors.
Introducing to you: EthVC, a track dedicated to doing exactly that!
Every year, EthCC is the one opportunity to find the next big startups to invest in, being the largest blockchain gathering in Europe.
With over 250 speakers and 1,500 attendees, we gather several hundreds of blockchain startups during an entire week in Paris. Choosing an easily-accessible destination from across the world and offering the cheapest tickets for a conference of this scale was a conscious choice from the organisers to ensure that EthCC is accessible to the global community, including young entrepreneurs.
On the startup side, Paris is positioning itself as an entrepreneurial and financial capital in Europe. For attending investors, the conference is a unique opportunity to get in touch with the largest and most diversified entrepreneurs and investors in the industry.
We’ve created a special VC track during EthCC to bring this to the next level and to ensure successful encounters happen. EthVC participants will end up with a far better understanding of the blockchain space than their peers and have direct access to the most promising projects that are currently fundraising.
So how will it work ?
We care about our investors and want to make sure their time spent at EthVC is productive. To this end, we select the startups that will attend. The first sinequanone condition to be part of EthVC is getting their technical talk reviewed and accepted by our team.
We also care about our startups and want to ensure they connect with committed investors. This is why we ask our investors to pay a small ticket fee to participate, ensuring that they are serious about investing in the ecosystem.
We are making a point of helping investors by ensuring the safeguard of the technical quality of the pitching startups, so they can focus on the business aspects with no fear of falling for a scam (as some sadly experienced during the 2017 boom).
What will happen during EthVC ?
On the 1st day of the conference, investors will have access to all talks as well as dedicated workshops on business models in the ecosystem and a useful deep dive in the tech, a practical way to learn fast about the latest developments in blockchain, Ethereum and their various usages. The agenda will allow them to see talks led by the start-ups that will be later pitching on the VC stage. On days 2 and 3, the curated startups will pitch their projects in a dedicated room to our community of investors- accessible only to registered members with a VC Track Pass. The Pitch Room schedule will be shared ahead of the event, along with company details, short abstract, CEO profile, and fundraising asks. There will be both equity based and token based projects.
What we aim to achieve ?
Well some sang that it ain’t about the money, money, money, they just want to make the world dance. We’ll sing that it ain’t all about the money, money, money, we just want to help buidl tomorrow’s companies.
