The road to EthCC [5]
Bonjour friends of EthCC,
We have been humbled by the overwhelming response and interest for EthCC[5] and as many of you will have already seen, the event is sold out.
Speaking applications, Volunteer applications, Student tickets and Sponsorship slots have also all been allocated.
We want to thank all of you for expressing your interest in the event whether you’ve taken the time to apply for a speaking slot or tried to buy a ticket.
For those that have missed out, it doesn’t mean you can’t experience the magic of EthCC[5]. Here’s why:
The heart of the EthCC community
EthCC is a nonprofit run conference and our efforts have always been directed at creating a community culture that feels like home.
It has been an honour to watch the exponential growth of our ecosystem through this conference over the past few years — we thank you all for the support.
Scaling a conference is no easy feat. As much as we would like to welcome any and everyone, we can’t grow as fast as the Ethereum ecosystem (who can, eh?) unless we make tradeoffs on the quality of the event production and the atmosphere inside the conference.
We have doubled our capacity since last year to 2000 attendees (from 1000) and that’s as much as we can scale each year.
Every year we have rescheduled, resized and retargeted to ensure that we keep our ticket costs low to welcome students, developers and early stage startups to learn from key leaders in the industry via their workshops and talks.
If you missed out on a ticket, don’t fret, we will be live streaming the entire conference, which enables anyone interested in learning to tune in to all sessions.
The Magic of EthCC lives on in side-events
EthCC is just one event during EthCC week. There is a wealth of opportunities to experience the magic of the community in Paris at side events.
Last year there were 60 community-led events in Paris during the whole week and we anticipate more to come this year.

EthCC Ticket logistics
For the first time this year, EthCC sold all tickets on chain. This didn’t come cheap in terms of the learning experience. There were many glitches for which we apologise, and we will continue working with teams to create a seamless experience for the upcoming years. To this extent, if you have ideas on ticketing, be it technical, how to distribute, or any other, please fill in this form, we would love to hear about them.
The tickets are stored on the Polygon blockchain as NFTs which can be verified at the entrance of the venue. Conference attendees could purchase the tickets with a credit card with Stripe or via USDC tokens.
Those tickets are not anonymous for the organiser, the Ethereum France team has to collect information from the purchaser (name, surname and email) so as to comply with the venue insurance and sanitary security guidelines.
No metadata is stored on chain, but all tickets have an identifier for Unlock Protocol to interpret and validate. This information will be verified on site the day of the event along with the validity of the ticket.
The tickets are also Non Transferable and calling the transfer function will throw an error and revert. Nevertheless, a dedicated team at EthCC is here to help and handle ticket transfers (fill in this form!) between attendees in an effort to avoid scams and heavy speculation.
