Announcing Ethcon Korea 2023!
Greetings everyone! This is the Ethcon Korea organizing committee!
We are pleased to announce that Ethcon Korea 2023 will take place in Seoul on the 1st of September 2023. Ethcon Korea is a non-profit event supported by the Ethereum Foundation as our main sponsor and operated autonomously by pro bono volunteers from the community.
Following the success of our previous events in 2019 and 2020, this year’s event marks a fresh start. It will feature a hackathon, conference and various side programs to facilitate the sharing of developer experiences and strengthen the Ethereum community in Korea.

Ethcon Korea is an event where developers come together to bring their ideas in hackathons and share knowledge and experiences through conference presentations.
For Ethcon Korea’s fresh start, we have adopted the slogan “Proof of sharing: Let’s share ideas, knowledge, experiences, and deep connections!” This slogan was chosen based on the voting results of Ethcon Organizing Committee members who agreed with the purpose of establishing Ethcon Korea. Through Ethcon Korea 2023, we hope to further expand the Ethereum developer community in Korea and showcase the various research and development. We believe that sharing ideas leads to innovation, sharing knowledge enhances collective learning, sharing experiences inspires growth, and building deep connections fosters a supportive network.

With the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry booming in the Asia-Pacific region, September has emerged as a significant month this year for major events. Among them, Ethcon Korea stands out as one of the most notable events in Korea.
Seongsu-dong, located in Seoul, South Korea, is a unique neighborhood where the new meets the old. It is home to numerous shops that have transformed old houses and factories into vibrant storefronts. Ethcon Korea will take place in this lively area. With its trendy cafes, design studios, and hip boutiques, Seongsu attracts a young and artistic crowd. This exceptional locale blends contemporary architecture with repurposed industrial spaces, creating an inspiring and dynamic ambiance that encourages creativity and collaboration.
The Programs

1. Hackathon 🧑💻 (Day 1 ~ 3)
Democratic judging with Quadratic Funding
On the final day of the event, each participating team will present their projects to our panel of expert judges. Alongside this, conference attendees will have the chance to show their support for their preferred projects through a Quadratic Funding (QF) voting process.
As part of our multifaceted judging process, which includes expert evaluations, QF plays an essential role in empowering the community’s voice in recognizing deserving projects. This revolutionary approach ensures that every individual contribution, irrespective of its size, can have a substantial impact, ensuring an equitable and democratic distribution of funds.
We are in the process of planning the criteria for judging and prize money details, which will be announced at a later date. We assure you that the selection process will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Education Workshop for all participants
This workshop, led by industry experts, aims to provide valuable insights, enhance technical skills, and foster effective collaboration among participants, empowering them to excel in their hackathon projects.

Keynote Speaker: Vitalik Buterin
Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, will grace the stage as a keynote speaker at Ethcon Korea 2023.
Since the event’s inception in 2019, Vitalik has consistently been a keynote speaker, enlightening our domestic community with invaluable insights. He has shared the Ethereum development roadmap and delivered significant technical updates. We are delighted to announce that he will be joining us once again as a keynote speaker.
