ETHDenver is aiming for its most geographically diverse year yet.
The Mission & Vision
As we shared in the launch post for ETHDenver 2020, facilitating access to the ETHDenver BUIDLathon for as many Scholars as possible is one of ETHDenver’s key goals. In collaboration with the Bounties Network, Devcon Scholars, and Blockchain Education Network, ETHDenver launched a bounty to source applications and funds for the scholarship program.
Since ETHDenver is one of the biggest events in the Ethereum calendar, we know to expect a lot of scholarship applications. As such, we want to make sure we allocate as many funds as we can where they are truly needed.
We’ve been asking scholarship hopefuls to let us know why they’re passionate about blockchain technology and why they feel they should represent their country or U.S. state at ETHDenver 2020. We’re also asking the Ethereum community to help us with some of the funding efforts by contributing to the bounty. It will allow us to disburse funds for certain international flights or visa applications needed in some cases.
Following the success of the Devcon Scholars 2019 program, ETHDenver is aiming for more geographic diversity than ever before, and hopes to provide more scholarships for those who need them. We’re already seeing some passionate submissions coming in from Turkey, Colombia, India, the Philippines and more! Here are just some of the great applications we have already received:
Scholars will also have the opportunity to get involved with Ethereum education depending on their level of knowledge, and will benefit from interactions with ETHDenver sponsor companies and mentors throughout the event. The goal is to provide an empowering experience for individuals designed to enable Scholars to further grow the Ethereum community around the world.
The Details
ETHDenver will contribute an initial $250 towards travel costs for 50 Scholars. We have also secured hostel accommodation for all 50 Scholars, located adjacent to the ETHDenver venue. Accommodation will be provided from the 13th-17th of February (Thurs-Mon). Complimentary food and beverages will be available onsite at ETHDenver each day of the main event: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All ETHDenver attendees will also have access to an onsite bodega, coffee shop and food trucks, where you’ll have the experience of purchasing food using cryptocurrency, provided to you via an ETHDenver burner wallet.

The scholarship application process will have the following milestones:
- Scholarship Submission Deadline: December 20th
- Scholarship Approval Notifications: No later than January 2nd
- Travel Booking Deadline: January 7th
Incentives for People Who Help Fund Travel Bounties for Scholars
Contributors to the 50/50/50 bounty will be rewarded. All contributions matter, so everyone adding to the bounty pot will gain experience points in the new ETHDenver DAO.
For those contributing $500 or more, exclusive Bufficorn swag items will be added on top of ETHDenver DAO experience points, and for everyone contributing $1,000 or more to the scholarship pool, Stakeholder (VIP) access will be awarded including all the perks that come with it (access to the onsite ETHDenver VIP/Stakeholder lounge all weekend, access to VIP/Stakeholder events Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and more).
ETHDenver Sponsors will also have the opportunity to invite Scholars to shadow at their exhibitor booths during the event. It’s not only a great way to share your project with bright minds from across the world, but also a great recruitment avenue that will help broaden and enrich our ecosystem.
