Curious about BUIDLing at ETHDenver & ColoradoJam 2021 with ConsenSys but wanting more details on their project? Get the scoop from their recent interview with ETHDenver:
What Is ConsenSys?
“ConsenSys is a software company. So we are building the tools, the frameworks, and the protocols for the sort of trusted internet that we’re sort of bringing into being. So we often call that Web3. We build on Ethereum. And we have a variety of projects that are currently helping to create this ecosystem and giving developers and consumers as well, the tools and the interfaces, they need to onboard and be part of this ecosystem. So sort of the, the list of tools are Metamask, Truffle, Infura, ConsenSys Quorum, Codify ConsenSys, and ConsenSys Diligence. And then we also have arms of the company that work on professional services, and working with organizations to help build all of this out.”
What Else Should BUIDLers Know?
“Yeah, I think it’s developers and users that are the focus. We are really focused on getting folks who are either experienced developers or who are sort of starting out on their developer journey to start building the applications that they want to see on top of Ethereum. It’s just like a really exciting time, right now. You know, after sort of DeFi summer, and all of the interests, there’s just so much activity going on, whether it’s with decentralized autonomous organizations, folks launching decentralized applications for the first time and seeing that gain traction. So we’re just trying to bring people in and show them how they can start building and make it as easy as possible. And then, in past talks, like we, you know, we care about the individual user, we also care about the enterprise user. And so we want to help bring and onboard those people in the easiest way possible, and reduce their friction, so it’s such a unique opportunity for us to sort of meet both of those goals simultaneously.”
What Is ConsenSys Excited About This Year?
“So, you know, if we’re talking about enterprise, we’re seeing a lot of proof of concepts built on enterprise Ethereum. So in our case, ConsenSys Quorum, which even you know, if you go down deeper, it is a package of Go Quorum that we were building at JPMorgan. Again, so like the use cases, we’re seeing a lot of more proof of concepts are in beta or closed betas. And being that everything’s open source. We aren’t necessarily able to track every single project. So a lot of these enterprise use cases are happening behind closed doors or in closed environments, where you’re getting, you know, for example, JP Morgan’s link, you know, they’ve got 400 partner banks, building on a Quorum. And essentially, I believe the use case right now is around sanctions clearing, but they’re looking to apply more applications. And we’re seeing a lot of use cases like this, where they’re working behind these closed repos and working on projects, but we’re seeing a lot of proof of concepts. And eventually, I think, you know, later this year, we’re starting to see more people go to production, but it’s, it’s all kind of up in the air. I think we’re still quite early, especially with all things Web3. I feel like we’re still in the 90s if we’re thinking about comparing this to internet growth and the history of it. We’re still very early!”
