Ethereum Classic Labs would like to thank Ethermine for updating their mining pool ahead of schedule for the Atlantis hard fork, scheduled for September 13 mainnet launch. ETC Labs is excited to see such a strong community come together to make the transition to the Atlantis hard fork come together so quickly. Along with Ethermine, Nanopool and 2miners have also updated their networks to support the Atlantis hard fork. The Ethereum Classic network and community has been planning for the hard fork at block 8,772,000, targeting Friday, September 13, 2019 for an official mainnet launch.

The Atlantis hard fork is a major upgrade to the Ethereum Classic Blockchain (ETC), aiming to increase the functionality and stability of ETC. The upgrade also ensures compatibility with Ethereum to promote greater collaboration between the sibling blockchains. The Atlantis upgrade consists of 10 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including improvements to stability (EIP 100), Op-code upgrades (EIP 140, 211, and 214), precompiled contracts (EIP 198), precompiled contracts to improve zk-Snarks (EIP 196 and 197), performance related improvements (EIP 161 and 170) and enhanced security (EIP 658).
