Ethermon is thrilled to announce our full integration into Polygons state of the art Layer 2 infrastructure, allowing for an overall enhanced user experience by eliminating the burden of Ethereum gas transactions.
-Barkindle is clearly happy to hear this news!
Why We Chose Polygon
Given that Ethermon is focused on delivering the most optimal gameplay experience for all players, committing to the right scaling solution is important to allow for fluid transacting for our users. Currently executing on-chain functions on Ethereum Layer 1 poses some major drawbacks mostly stemming from the over congestion of the network.
The miners require gas fees in gwei to execute a transaction from problem to solution. However, this ETH gas in technical terms is the amount of energy required to process a transaction. The demand for more ETH and the ability of the blockchain platform to execute smart contracts is the reason why the gas price fees are high.
For a blockchain game to function as desired will require an environment with as minimal friction as possible when it comes to smart contract execution. No player wants to spend more to acquire the items they’ve worked hard for than the cost of the item itself. By solving this problem our player base will enjoy a seamless experience while still providing them with all the play to earn benefits.
“How Polygon is Fixing the Problem”
Polygon, previously known as Matic is working to address the gas dilemma by providing a framework for decentralized applications to integrate and migrate smart contract code to Layer 2. By doing so, massive throughput demand is being offloaded from the main chain and being bridged to a much more scalable environment. Polygon has already achieved up to 7,000 transactions per second (TPS) faster than the 14 TPS on Ethereum, also achieving 1/1000th of the gas fee per transaction compared to Ethereum.
Polygon is already showing wide spread adoption especially among the gaming sector as dozens of projects have integrated. Projects like Aavegotchi, Quickswap, and Decentral Games have reported more than satisfactory results and community feedback resulting in their ecosystems being some of the most active in the space.
As we perform the final quality checks of the smart contracts for Polygon, the details of when and how you’ll be able to acquire new Ethermon will be in a subsequent announcement soon.
About Polygon (Formerly Matic)
Polygon is the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Its core component is Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports building and connecting Secured Chains like Plasma, Optimistic Rollups, zkRollups, Validium etc and Standalone Chains like Matic POS, designed for flexibility and independence. Polygon’s Layer 2 Chains have seen widespread adoption with 90+ Dapps, ~7M txns and ~200K unique users.
If you’re an Ethereum Developer, you’re already a Polygon developer! Leverage Polygon’s fast and secure txns for your Dapp, get started here.
Ethermon.io is a pioneer of Ethereum based blockchain games and was initially first launched in 2017, making it one of the original NFT projects in the blockchain space. With over 200 Mons in existence and a multi-verse game presence, Ethermon has become one of the more robust ecosystems in the market. Mons can now be found within the 2D Turn Based Web version or the decentralized open world of Decentraland where Ethermon trainers can Play to Earn in multiple ways.
