How to buy FUEL Tokens using MetaMask
Disclaimer: This is document is only meant to serve as a tool to guide you through the purchase of FUEL tokens. We are not responsible for any loss and cannot guarantee that the services listed below will work as intended.
Prerequisites:
To follow this guide, you will need:
- A web browser.
- A certain amount of ether in the account that you control. ONLY ETHER WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE ICO. Do not send any other cryptocurrency to the addresses mentioned in this article.
Getting Started
If you don’t have a ERC20-compatible address to send from, or ether (ETH) to contribute, start from Step 1. Otherwise, go to Step 5.
Step 1: Creating an account
First type “metamask chrome extension” in to Google, and click the link that begins with https://chrome.google.com. You will be taken to the install page, where you can click “Add to Chrome”.
Now you will see the Metamask fox in your browser tab.
Click it to open your wallet.
You will be prompted to create a secure password for your Metamask account. Do so. Make sure that the Ethereum Main Net network is selected (on the top left corner).
Step 3: Importing an Account
If you have a private key or JSON file for a wallet already, you can import that wallet in to Metamask. Simply click “≣” at the top right, choose “Import Account”.
You will need to input your raw private key into the “private” key field, or the typical JSON keystore file. Otherwise, you can select Create Account to generate a new one.
Step 4: Getting Ether
To be able to participate in the ICO, you will need to have some ether (ETH) in an account that you control.
You can buy ETH from different exchanges using a plethora of currencies. Note: just like purchasing Bitcoins, there are fees associated with every transaction. So sending 1 ether will not exactly give you back the amount of tokens that you expect, it will be slightly less.
WARNING: Do not send ether directly from an exchange to our contribution address. It is possible that you will lose those tokens. We suggest buying ether on exchanges, and sending that ether over to your own privately controlled account in MyEtherWallet. Then, you can safely contribute directly to our crowdfunding address from there.
Step 5: Buying FUEL Tokens
The ICO will be active from October 1, 9 AM. PDT, and will close on October 29, 9 AM. PDT, or whenever the supply of tokens reaches zero. Before doing anything, please verify that you are in the crowdfund period.
Please ensure you are on our Secure website. Our website address is: etherparty.io/ico
This is the main page of https://etherparty.io/ico. You’ll see the “Contribute Now” button. Click it.
This is the beginning of the contribution process. We require all contributors to read and agree to the terms and conditions and white paper. Once you have done so, click the checkbox and hit “Continue”.
This screen presents you with a dropdown list of compatible and incompatible wallets. Please select the wallet you want to use from the dropdown — for the purposes of this tutorial, we will stick with MyEtherWallet. If the wallet you plan to use is listed in “Incompatible Wallets”, you will not be able to proceed. Click “Continue” when you have selected your compatible wallet.
Now you can see the contribution address!
To buy FUEL tokens, all you will need to do is to send a transaction to the address listed on the page, with the amount of ETH you want to contribute.
Open Metamask and click “Send”, and paste in the address copied from our contribution page. Set the value equal to the amount of ETH you want to send.
One last step is to add the token to your Metamask, so you can see your balance. Click “Add Token”, and paste in the Token address: 0xEA38eAa3C86c8F9B751533Ba2E562deb9acDED40. It should automatically populate the symbol as FUEL and the decimals as 18.
That’s it!
When your transaction has been mined and entered into the blockchain, you will be able to see it under “Tokens” in your Metamask account.
