This Week in Useful Tokens #8

Yet another great week in Useful Tokens. The end of the year is approaching, and devs are still working hard to get in as many updates as possible while providing real world value for their blockchain projects. This week we look at Brave browser, several new Ethex listings, and Bounty0x adding staking.

Basic Attention Token

Brave browser had an important update this week with their announcement of moving to Chromium, the open source project for Google Chrome. This change will make the browser operate 22% percent faster. Considering that over 1 billion people currently use Chrome as their preferred browser of choice, this will allow users to have a seamless transition as Brave gains popularity. Additionally, HTC announced that Brave would be the default browser for the HTC Exodus 1, which is the first ever blockchain based phone. We are excited to follow the development and growth of this phone, as it has a high capability to operate with multiple cryptocurrencies. Read the full CNET article here.

district0x

This week, Ethex listed district0x after meeting all criteria as a useful token. To honor this listing, we wrote an extensive article about district0x and DNT. This guide is comprehensive, and is definitely worth a read. Feel free to check it out here and give it some claps.

district0x also released their weekly report, a dev update and continued growth of their education portal. Make sure to check all of these resources out to become familiar with district0x and welcome them to the Ethex family.

Augur Reputation

Augur released their 2018 Year in Review, and what a year it was. Some highlights included:

• Augur is the only decentralized prediction market protocol working on Ethereum main net that lets anyone create and trade event outcomes.
• While participation in some markets is high, with the most popular market gathering ~$3M at stake, a large number of markets aren’t liquid and have barely any activity.
• A community of developers building tools is growing around the protocol, as well as a community of early traders.
• Current user experience is the biggest issue, with non-technical traders facing difficulties to buy and sell outcomes. Curation is needed too.
• Regulatory hurdles, Ethereum’s scalability issues and delays from the Oracle outcome reports are matters to be addressed in the medium to long-term future.

Bounty0x

This week saw Bounty0x launch their staking program, which allows Hunters to reduce platform fees by staking small amounts of BNTY. This is very beneficial for those that utilize bounties as their main source of income.

Along with their staking update, Bounty0x held two podcasts, one with Eddie Lee of Pledgecamp to discuss their decentralized crowdfunding platform, and Bill Ottman, CEO of Minds to discuss their censorship free social network with crypto incentives.

iExec

iExec released their monthly report, and it comes as no surprise that this team had plenty to update everyone with. Some highlights include IBM Cloud joining iExec, Devcon4 summary, coverage of their many events, new hires, and release of company finances. As far as monthly updates are concerned, it’s obvious that iExec takes their project very seriously, and it shows here. Read the full report here and make sure to give it plenty of love.
