Crowdsourcing Token Listing Decisions

Ethfinex is a community hub designed for developers, traders and Ethereum enthusiasts to share, discuss and crowdsource information from across the ecosystem.

It will allow for trading and discussion of ERC20 tokens and Ethereum-based crowdsales whilst providing a platform of support for the most innovating, explosive and community-driven projects out there.

Ethfinex is a community-run exchange. The decisions we make and the steps we take are dictated by our users.

We strive to support projects with innovative ideas and passionate communities. Listing decisions on Ethfinex are therefore a product of your support and demand.

Ultimately, it is the sentiment of our users and the Ethereum community which will dictate what is traded on our platform — not listing fees, investments or our team’s independent preferences.

To accomplish all of this, however, we will need your help…

Eleven days ago, we introduced the initial token listing crowdsourcing thread in an effort to gauge relative popularity amongst the multitude of interesting projects out there. The thread was a success, and provided us with fantastic insights into the many highly-dedicated token communities and the justifications underlying the demand for these projects.

As per our thread, the most upvoted tokens were (in no particular order) -

ICN, DNT, OMG, DICE, SNT, FUN, GNT, ZRX, CVC, BAT, SAN, NMR, BNT, ANT, REP, EOS, WINGS

Upon its launch, Ethfinex will list a selection of tokens, handpicked by the Ethereum community at large, which encapsulate the spirit and ideology of the Ethereum ecosystem. Ethfinex will strive to be as open and transparent to as many legitimate projects as possible.

In light of this, we’d like to conduct another poll, this time to act as a more structured, precise indicator of project popularity. We’d love to hear your thoughts, and reasons as to why you happen to be engrossed by a certain project.

This poll can be found here.

If your support lies with a token not included on this list, we recommend for you to start a new thread revolving around the project/ICO, explaining its concept, vision and positives.

Once Ethfinex has launched, future listing decisions will initially be determined through a variation of the Carbon Vote mechanism. Carbon Vote is a voting tool, developed and driven by the Ethereum community, which allows interested parties to “vote with their Ether”.

In the long run, once a sufficient level of discussion has been reached, we will combine the Carbon Vote with a voting mechanism based on a user’s reputation on Ethfinex.

Ethfinex’s vision is to move towards a completely trustless exchange, steadily decentralising ownership of the platform to its community. The Ethfinex platform will not only be for or used by the Ethereum community — It will be of the Ethereum community.

The current exchange model is outdated, even more so in a movement spearheaded by a desire for decentralisation.

For decentralisation to work effectively, functions must be redistributed to the people and communities must participate.

We’re calling on everyone to participate now.
