Presenting the First Ethfinex Sponsored Hackathon — 20/22 July in London
USD 5,000 prize for the project making best use of our self-custodial API and Ethereum
We’re excited to sponsor the launch of a global series of hackathon events, brought to you by Bitfinex. The first hackathon will be in London, U.K. from July 20th to 22nd. Developers and traders are encouraged to register for the event here and read more details on the event page.
As a sponsor of the hackathon, we’ll be offering a USD $5,000 prize for the best integration of our self-custodial trading API or use of Ethereum.
We want to encourage integrations with Ethereum dApps, and members of the 0x protocol ecosystem. Below we offer some ideas for potential integrations to stimulate the brainstorming process leading up to the hackathon.
Inspiration
- Using 0x protocol — Use the Ethfinex trustless trading API to interact with other relayers and match orders generated on another platform with liquidity on Ethfinex.
- Using 0x protocol — Funnel 0x orders from other relayers onto Ethfinex.
- Using 0x protocol — Create a ShapeShift style, user friendly interface which integrates into the non-custodial 0x based API.
- On-chain liquidity integration — Build an integration with other decentralised exchange liquidity such as Airswap or Kyber for Ethfinex
- Trading algo — Build a trading algorithm that holds the top five tokens listed on Ethfinex. Recalibrate every 24 hours based on performance of past day so that you’re holding only the top five performers.
- Trading algo — Build a trading algorithm that sources sentiment analysis from Twitter and readjust holdings when token sentiment falls below or rises above a certain threshold.
- Community tool — Build a tool that automatically converts amounts to be traded into local currencies.
- Community tool — Integrate the API with a dApp to allow seamless on-chain exchange.

Who can attend this event?
Anyone with a passion for decentralised technology. Spots are limited, so track record of building in the space, whether through direct work experience or side projects available on Github will make applications stand out. One caveat, you must be over 18 to attend the event. At the event, you will need to form a team of 3–4 people to be eligible for the prize and participant can only be on one team.

A laptop and your enthusiasm for decentralised technology. We’ll supply the food and drink.
