Here at the Bloomer Mag, we pride ourselves off of the award-winning work that our Journalists do on daily basis. We know that our staff of writers and editors are passionate about every story that they cover, but in order to ensure that our writers and staff remain credible, we created a set of ground rules to protect our writers and stuff from running into a conflict of interest.

Relationships(Sources or otherwise)

It is understood that sources are a journalist’s bread and butter, especially when it comes to getting exclusive information for a story. Therefore, it is expected for writers and employees to have a close relationship with that individual; even if that relationship is of the familial, romantic, or otherwise.

Regardless of the relationship, when in the pursuit of a story the writer is expected to stay professional. When the personal relationship begins to get in the way of the writer is unable to stay professional and the source we expect them to remove themselves from the story; unless they feel that it is still manageable. In which case we will place another writer on the story to accompany them to ensure that there is no lapse judgment.

Actions and activities outside the publication

When it comes to the actions of our writer and journalist outside of the newsroom we allow criticism of the government, as long as it does not reflect negatively on the publication. We prohibit writers from discussing details about upcoming stories outside of the publication until all information is properly fact-checked by the editors. as to avoid any unnecessary conflicts, especially when it comes to individual public figures. In the case that a writer publishes a piece meant for the Bloomer Mag imprint, in a rival publication their employment will be subject to termination.

Sponsored Content

When it comes to sponsored content published in the bloomer mag, it must reflect the values of the publication or it will not be published as to avoid any mixed messages to our audience.
