The representative of the community, Mr. Ciro Benjamín Mérida Roblero, thanks EthicHubers for “the nice support provided” and requests “please keep supporting us so we can continue working together”.

Guatimoc is one of the solidary groups working with EthicHub along 2019. Geographically it belongs to Cacahoatan municipality in Chiapas and it is located at an altitude of 834 meters above sea level. This group represented by Ciro, has been growing coffee for many years and they have vast experience, but despite being hardworking people and having a profitable activity, they were unable to get free from the Poverty Loop just because they were excluded from the traditional financial system. Ciro’s and his neighbors’ only access to working capital used to be very expensive cash loans and to pay such high interest they had to sell their crops at below-market prices, year after year.

Fortunately, such situation changed upon the arrival of EthicHub. In November and December of last year, Guatimoc applied for two loans through our platform to finance two different projects worth in total around 10,000 euros -the rough equivalent to 200,000 Mexican Pesos- and 40 EthicHubers sent them the money!! With this loan at a much cheaper interest rate, Guatimoc community was able to harvest their coffee on time this season and to continue with farming tasks.

In April of this year, after selling their coffee, Guatimoc community was able to paid back their loans plus interest on due time. EthicHubers who supported their projects received their investment back with the corresponding interest and best of all, a deep stisfaction for having contributed to the social and economic development of the Guatimoc community and their beutiful lands.

On this video, Mr. Ciro thanks all Ethichubbers for supporting his community and himself in a very emotional testimony that further reinforces the work we do at EthicHub and encourages us to continue working to reach many more communities and people like Ciro.

From EthicHub Team we also want to express our gratitude to all the EthicHubers who contributed to financing the Guatimoc community.

This is how we all win!

Connecting people. Harvesting wealth.
