In November 2017 EthicHub was officially introduced to an enthusiastic audience of friends and acquaintances at TeamLabs meeting room.

Many things have happened since then, and after a lot of hard work from our team and our dear community’s support, we launched an operational and very efficient crowdlending platform -based on blockchain technology- to provide affordable loans for unbanked coffee farmers in Chiapas, Mexico. Best of all: 100% of the farmers paid back on time the loans they received and they are gratefully demanding new loans to keep on working their lands. With the platform’s technology validated, it’s time to incorporate new functionalities and to scale the model, because from the very beginning, EthicHub aims to become a global solution.
This second anniversary is a nice excuse to make a time travel tour to highlight some important milestones achieved so far. Thanks to all of you who made it possible for EthicHub to be here!
Early ethichubbers will remember when in March 2018 EthicHub reaches soft cap to start the project! This starting milestone enabled initial developments of the platform and the necessary tools to materialize the idea.

Behind this success, there was an enormous research work, information gathering, study and analysis and an intense diffusion campaign, touring Spain’s main cities and attending countless events to present our proposal to at least a dozen blockchain communities in the country. It was precisely at Leon’s Blockchain Community event, the NONcentralCONF, in June of that same year, where
EthicHub launches its alpha version 0.1 platform!

Another very important milestone that some people still recall for the spontaneous comment made by one of our farmers during the live connection: “EthicHub conditions are too good”. It was a very touching moment for the audience.
Contacts and alliances established along this time with other important actors from different ecosystems have also been very relevant. In August,
EthicHub joins Social Enterprise Spain

because we are committed to this business philosophy and we support all initiatives in this same line. We want to share our enthusiasm for the possibilities of Blockchain technology and decentralization. With this idea in mind,
we join the Spanish Association of FinTech and InsurTech (AEFI)!

Because this emerging ecosystem has the ability to contribute to the financial inclusion of millions of people in the world, one of the objectives and goals of the SDGs, a UN initiative that we fully support.
Throughout these intense months we have been selected for different acceleration processes, promoted by reference entities that have seen the possibilities of EthicHub. We are very satisfied with our productive relation with ColaborativoX’s Impact Investing Fund (Mexico) and the continuous learning process it entails. We are also grateful for the learning experience at Ship2b program -a reference in Spain- and for being granted the Impact Business Seal. From this collaboration we have outlined and improved the
Positive Impact and Good Practices promoted by EthicHub.

And more recently,
We have been selected for the fourth edition of Cuatrecasas Acelera program!

In an ecosystem as innovative as ours, we must always be aware of regulation updates, promoting reciprocal learning partnerships and mutual benefit, enriching for all.
Also in these two years, EthicHub’s solution for the unbanked smallholder farmers has been recognized and awarded. By the end of 2017 at LaBitConf in Bogota — Latam’s most important and representative Blockchain event — we won the Blockchain4 Humanity Award for Best Financial Inclusion proyect. In 2018 recognition came from the Fintech ecosystem: the Spanish Fintech Award for the startup with the Greatest Social Impact. Also in 2018, at the Ibero-American Design Biennial we were the most awarded project among hundreds of participant projects: Design for Development / Spanish Cooperation Award, Design and Entrepreneurship Award and a special mention in the Service Design category. And more recently, in 2019, on the Demo Day organized by Ship2B we were awarded as the Project with Greatest Impact.

We are very grateful and proud of all of them, and for our team it means further commitment to the responsibility they entail. We are quite aware we still have a long way to go, but it is also true that today EthicHub is better prepared than ever to face the upcoming challenges, because we are building a strong and reliable community!
And for those of you who still don’t know about EthicHub: we invite you to join us and to lend with impact, proving that together it is possible to build a better economy, where everyone wins.
We share with you a podcast of Juan del Cerro from DisruptivoTV / Social Entrepreneurship — Businesses that change the world, a channel considered a reference in social entrepreneurship in Latin America, interviewing Gabriela Chang, founder of EthicHub, “a company that found a global solution using Blockchain to finance agricultural projects with a positive impact, benefiting both smallholder farmers, as well as lenders and buyers, by connecting them directly in a mutually beneficial relationship, thus creating a true driver for sustainable economic development. ”
We have come a long way in two years. And this is just the beginning!
Thanks everyone for making it possible. Let’s keep it going!
