Ship2B, a reference in impact investment in Spain, hands EthicHub the award for “Project with the greatest impact” during the Demo Day- XI Edition

With the event, held at the ESADE headquarters in Barcelona, Ship2B celebrated the final act of the acceleration process it maintained in recent months with different social impact projects, grouped in the sections of Tech4Health, Tech4Social and Tech4Climate. Nearly 400 startups requested to be admitted to the program, 30 of them being pre-selected. Finally, only 12 were chosen for the acceleration and investment program, EthicHub being one of them. Now, the world of impact investment rewards EthicHub with the award for the “Highest Impact project” in a busy event that brought together about 200 people. The jury that presided the award was composed of relevant people from the impact ecosystem in Spain, such as José Moncada (La Bolsa Social), Mª Ángeles León (Open Value Foundation), Manel Vallet (Catalonia Hotels & Resorts), Guillermo Casasnovas (ESADE), Javier León (Family Office) or business angels Andres Dussan and Alfons Brutau.

This is not the first recognition EthicHub receives. In 2017 the project won the Blockchain4 Humanity Award for the best Blockchain project in the category of financial inclusion and the following year the Spanish Fintech Award for the best social impact startup. In more recent times, EthicHub has was also awarded the Design for Development Award at the 2018 Ibero-American Biennial in the “Service Design” category.

EthicHub’s proposal is to create an ecosystem where all the actors involved benefit from their relationship with each other. To achieve this, we have developed an investment platform, native to Blockchain technology, that universalises access to highly profitable positive impact projects. With EthicHub, small agricultural producers in developing regions can access a new financing tool with much cheaper and more accessible interests and directly market their product, eliminating unnecessary intermediaries. Thus, achieving better prices for their products and gaining direct buyers. At the same time, project investors achieve competitive returns for their loans while financing these profitable agricultural communities, based on real and productive economy.

End of June of last year, the official launch of the platform prototype took place, and since then financed 60 families of Mexican coffee growers with over 65,000 Euros, as well as achieving a 100% loan repayment rate so far. The lenders who invested in those projects gained a 15% annual interest rate. Now EthicHub is going through the next financing round to continue improving the platform and incorporate new and better functionalities as well as reaching more unbanked farmers and scale towards a model with global vocation.
