Later this morning, leaders in Congress are hearing from small businesses and consumers impacted by the recent Supreme Court decision concerning internet sales tax. Since last month, US Etsy sellers have been voicing their concerns, and calling on Congress to address the needs of microbusinesses in any new solution they consider.

In just one month, nearly 16,000 Etsy sellers from all 50 US states have signed a petition calling for a simple and fair federal sales tax solution for microbusinesses. Etsy sellers — most of whom are businesses of one working from their homes — are the new face of a digital main street. They are pursuing creative businesses on their own terms, and a complex patchwork of state and local tax systems would stifle their entrepreneurial endeavors.

That’s why today, we’re delivering these petition signatures to Congress, and continuing to advocate for a simple, fair, federal solution that works for the smallest of businesses.

Join us in urging Congress to thoughtfully consider the best interest of the microbusinesses they represent.
