MMORPG sessions are sometimes pretty hardcore not only in terms of playing but also for the state of your body. Most of us know what the days straight after another big game update are: frozen meals & lack of sleep. Surely sometimes it is great just to loosen up and have fun. However, much better is to maximize your player effectiveness and avoid a couple of unwanted kilos at the same time. Follow our guide on how to play MMO and stay healthy!

1. Stay hydrated

Absolute priority. Some of the usual signs that you spend too much time playing (like sore eyes, head or neck aches and etc.) may come from the very reason of lack of water in your body. Remember that you need to drink around two litres of water daily.

It is not surprising that many e-sports teams are supported by soft drinks manufacturers — however, it is obviously better to stay away from them in favour of simple water, tea or, at least, sports drinks.

2. Avoid eye fatigue

The advice everyone hears, but few actually follow. Yet it seems unrealistic to keep in mind that you have to focus your eyes on a distant object rather than monitor every 20 minutes, there is a way to do it. Just download any desktop or mobile app which reminds you to take a break. Gaming glasses (the type of glasses which performs colour correction) would also be a great contribution to the health of your eyesight.

3. Posture and stretches

Sore neck, shoulders and back may be fatal for your gaming performance due to the bad impact on blood circulation supplying the brain. You don’t have to buy a fancy rule-the-world gaming chair — but a decent one, to help you sit upright and provide good support for your back, would be just fine. Don’t forget to stretch from time to time!

4.Fresh air

Of course, sometimes it is just impossible to take a break from a good game. However, your muscles will lock and load if some fresh air enters your organism. At least leave the nearby window open. Some plants would be a nice addition not only to your interior but also to the provision of oxygen in the room.

5. Food

Probably kind of a sore subject to all gamers. During the long MMO sessions, frozen meals and unhealthy snacks may form up to 100% of a gamer’s diet. Junk food is full of calories, carbs and sugar which can quickly fuel you — though it lacks vitamins and minerals, which leads to malnutrition and after all, to dysfunction of your body. The main reason why gamers eat it is probably that one does not have to waste time on cooking and break from gaming. At least, try healthy snacks or better cook one good big meal that you can quickly reheat. Pro-hint: meal replacement fruit smoothie shakes.

An awesome MMO session is a marathon, not a sprint. Treat your body with love and remember that prior preparation and a few simple choices in the real world may become the key to success on any virtual ground!
