🍃 Are you working for nothing? 🍃— Ps. 127:1–2

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. ~ Psalms‬ ‭127:1–2

I love how there’s nothing new under the sun. The timeless truth we see here is that people will always labor towards something. For some it’s basic livelihood, protection, prosperity, peace, riches, etc — we all labor.

Unless the Lord

Unless the Lord is the one how directs our energies, we “labor in vain.” It is so easy to become caught up in the pace of work that surrounds us.

Before long, we find ourselves “eating the bread of anxious toil,” but don’t know why we’re doing it in the first place.

The Good News

The good news of course is that it doesn’t have to be that way. God invites into full life with Him….a life where His burden is easy and His yoke is light…a life where He gives His beloved rest.

Draw near to Him for a moment and ask Him to show you want that kind of rest means….how can we work with Him directing our lives?
