“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” ~ Psalms‬ ‭130:5–6

It’s hard to wait on the Lord … #amirite (am I right)? But there’s something I’ve experienced in my own prayer life that we see ring true in this Psalm for today.

You see in just these two verses the repetition that’s going on?

I wait for the Lord…my soul waits… my soul waits…. more than watchmen for the morning… more than watchmen for the morning…

It’s almost like the psalmist has a rhythm…almost like they’re breathing these words in and out. This waiting on the Lord is becoming a part of their being. They live to look for the Lord. It’s a part of who they are.

If we embrace this rhythm…if waiting on the Lord becomes like breathing…like a watchman waiting of the safety of the morning son….it can have a dramatic effect on our lives. I know it has for me.
