Join the European Union in Our Second Year at SXSW
When we think of South by Southwest, we think of the ultimate gathering of creatives and innovators from all over the world. That’s why the European Union will be joining in on the conversation in Austin for the second year in a row — building upon last year’s momentum — bringing to life our dynamic and growing digital and creative economy.
Our program this year will focus on three key themes:
● The Digital Economy in Europe — because an inclusive digital society brings greater opportunity for trade, investment, and innovation for businesses in Europe and the U.S.
● Culture and Tech — celebrating our rich cultural heritage while highlighting how we work to solve problems of the creative sector.
● Sustainable Urban Development — we are working to support cities in meeting their environmental, economic, and social challenges.
You’ll find these themes throughout our panel discussions, VR experiences, cutting edge startup demonstrations, musical performances and networking opportunities — with plenty of European food and drink mixed in.
We’ll also be showcasing the best of European innovation and creativity. Hailing from Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK, the following five startups are changing the way we approach web development, online video, marketing analytics, artificial intelligence and research: i2 media research limited, Peracton Ltd, Realeyes, Videodock and Wappsto. Alongside SXSW and Austin technology experts, these startups are at the forefront of innovation. To see these entrepreneurs in action, join us daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on our Demo Deck.

There’s a lot that we’re really excited about at EU@SXSW and to kick things off, we’ll be hosting an opening event with a performance from Vienna, Austria-based electro-pop duo Leyya on Saturday, March 10 at 6:00 pm. Another highlight is on Sunday, March 11, when we’ll be hosting the SXSW Cities Summit opening reception, convening civic leaders/innovators to learn, strategize and collaborate to transform the cities of the future, at 6 pm.
