Easy Eats in Central Paris
The corner café is one of Paris’ most iconic features. Though these bistros may look charming on your Instagram, they may not always offer the most affordable prices or the best quality food. Since I arrived in Paris as a student, I have been on a constant search for better and more affordable options. I was surprised at the number of hidden gems that I found. Whether you’re in town just for the week, or are making Paris your new home, consider one of these lesser-known locales for a delicious meal and enjoyable atmosphere!
If you are hoping for a sit down lunch or dinner at an affordable price, there are plenty of great options. A few of my favorites are listed below. All of these restaurants are located within walking distance of most of central Paris’ most popular sights like the Louvre, Musee D’Orsay, or the Pantheon.
·Le Petit Olivier
A small and eclectic restaurant with great homemade French food.
Address: 82 rue du Cherche Midi, 75006
· La Crêpe Rit du Clown
Great weekday lunchtime deal. Savory, sweet, and a cup of cider for under 15 euros.
Address: 6 rue des Canettes, 75006
· Nossa Churrasqueira
Delicious Portuguese chicken and sandwiches.
Address: 1 Rue de l’École Polytechnique, 75005
If you are looking for lunch or a coffee on the run, and prefer not to have the traditional baguette with ham, these options are great to take with you to class or to the Luxembourg gardens for an afternoon picnic.
· Epicerie Goûts
Delicious Italian sandwiches and salads, all to-go. A great option if you are looking for something to take for a picnic.
Address: the corner of rue du Cherche Midi and rue Dupin, 75006
Coffee, small salads, and desserts.
Address: 68 rue de Grenelle (also near Opera and Montmartre)
For a snack to refuel between meals, these are two very different, but equally delicious, options.
One of Paris’ best, and smallest, bakeries.
Address: 8 rue du Cherche Midi (also available near the Eiffel tower and in the Marais)
· De Clercq, les Rois de la frite
Belgian fries and burgers near the Luxembourg gardens.
Address: 185 rue Saint Jacques, 75005
