Keeping me up at night

Fears of a connected millennial

Beyond my personal projects, what’s really keeping me up at night these days is what’s happening in Politics — in France, but also around the world. We’re part of a connected generation and have access to global knowledge: with many friends living abroad, I always try to keep up with what’s happening globally.

So at this point, I’m pretty worried by “Terror” politicians : the rise of far-right parties across the western world, as well as the middle-age mentality of the leaders of the Republican Party — climate change deniers, old white men looking to put more money in their pockets by listening to gun lobbyists, and feeling entitled to tell women how they should and shouldn’t behave.

The real problem behind the rise of these political threats? Citizens who are tired of the fake promises and corruption amongst the political elite, and therefore looking for new blood to vote for, outsiders who hopefully would be able to change the system for the better. I’m all for this, and some of my favourite politicians here in France have this forward-looking problem-solving attitude.

Unfortunately, the Le Pens, Trumps or Carsons of the world are not a solution.

They are living in their own world, and trying to scared voters into following their ideas. More cult-leaders than politicians, and while they may appear ready to speak their mind, they also fluently speak bullshit. Just take a look at recent articles in the media and see how many of their theories and so-called facts have been debunked after doing the minimum amount of research. There’s something new every week.

Oh, and in the meantime, feel free to have a look at this safety document shared by the French Government, in the case of an attack. Better safe than sorry:
