10 Features in The New Tesla Model S and X

Tesla Model S has remained largely unchanged over the years. The first family car of the brand with an integrated verticle display being unchanged since its launch in 2012. Many Telsa users wanted improvements on the vehicle, so Elon Musk gave them. On 29 January 2021 Telsa release refresh on their top tire vehicles Telsa Model S and X. Here are 10 new improvements.

Refreshed Exterior

At first look, there are no significant differences on the exterior between the refreshed and the old models, but that is not quite true. There are some minor changes starting with changing the old chrome trim with a new matte black one and new narrower foglights. Also, Tesla made the front grille and spoiler bigger improving the aerodynamics even more.

The Yoke Steering Wheel

Tesla has been using a typical round-shaped steering wheel since the beginning of the company. Now they decided to bend the fundamentals of cars and to come up with the Yoke steering wheel. Now you are going to ask “What is the Yoke steering wheel? ”. This revolutionary type of wheel looks like someone chopped the top half of it. Furthermore, Tesla decided to remove the stalks and to integrate them into the wheel itself. On the left side you will find lights and turn signals and on the right: autopilot, voice controls, windshield controls and honking.

New Touchscreen Display

For the past models, Tesla used a vertical display. But now, following the design of Model 3 and Y, Telsa puts it horizontally. Its size is 17 inches with 2200x1300 resolution, exceptional responsiveness and left-right tilt. Via the display, you can control everything related to the car such as temperature controls, music, suspension and even play games.

New Audio System

In the new Tesla Model S and X, they will integrate a new sound system with 22-speakers. Besides the great acoustic and sound quality that the audio system provides, there will be additional active noise cancelling feature. This will reduce the noise from outside of the car by capturing it via microphones and annihilate it by emitting a sound wave with inverted phase.

Connectivity

Tesla is looking to modernise its products in every possible way. Because of that in the new models, every passenger will be able to charge their devices with individual Type-C port or wirelessly. The cars have multi-device Bluetooth connectivity and support both Android and IOS devices.

Comfort

With the new models, there are some additional features worth mentioning. For the first time in Tesla Model S and X, there are door bins. On the back seats, there are some lovely changes like mini display, which can be used for entertainment, and armrest with wireless charging station and cupholders. For better comfort on the back seats, the front seats are pushed forward, making more space for the passengers.

Bigger Battery

Working hard to improve the range, Tesla is constantly improving their battery. The estimated range of the Model S will be from 412 miles to more than 520 miles depending on the version you get. For the Model X, the range will be between 340 miles and 360 miles. Both models support fast charging technology, which means you’ll spend less time charging and even more time on the road.

Better Performance

On the performance side Model S and X are producing up to 1020 hp for their plaid edition that features three independent motors, each with a carbon fibre-sleeved rotor that maintains peak power output all the way to top speed. Top speed of Model S is up to 200mph while the Model X is up to 163mph. Both cars have astonishing acceleration because of the electrical power they use, and in numbers that means Models S can go from 0 to 60mph in under 2 seconds while Model X can do this for 2,5 seconds.

Improved Security

Every Tesla Model S and X will come with Sentry Mode. This feature adds a unique layer of protection to Tesla vehicles by continuously monitoring the environment around a car when it’s left unattended. When enabled, Sentry Mode enters a “Standby” state, which uses the car’s external cameras to detect potential threats. If a minimal threat is detected, Sentry Mode switches to an “Alert” state and displays a message on the touchscreen warning that its cameras are recording.

FSD capability

Full self-driving has been a goal for Tesla and now they are finally ready to introduce. FSD allow you to remove your hands from the steering wheel and enjoy the ride. The autopilot will do everything by itself like auto line changing, traffic and stop sign control, auto park and more.
