Card Sorting
HCID 531 Evaluation Studio | Week 4
In our in-class activity for week 4, we did a card sorting activity. The main topic was healthcare system, specifically one’s decision making process of going to a doctor.
Before the card sorting started, 5 randomly selected people wrote down around 50-100 cards with reasons that influence the decision of doctor appointment. After that, we were divided into 2 groups, and each group had a main participant, while others were assigned to be supportive roles.
The overall session of card sorting took about 30 minutes. Good thing about this activity is that while so many options are placed on table, participants can be recalled by something on the card they might not thought that they’re actually aware of (subconsciously), and really revisit their decision making process again to provide a specific order and structure of their own thinking process.
IMHO, one of the flaws of this activity is that there are too many facilitators, and without experiences they might be leading the participant in the way they might not actual act, or confuse the structure already constructed in participant’s mind.
