What is the internet?

I view the internet as a limitless resource in which individuals are constantly attributing more information such a knowledge or speculation. This near bottom-less hole of thoughts serves a major purpose of creating a habitat for knowledge, opinions and everything in between. One of the major functions of the internet is sharing. This function has the ability to influence others or bring attention to a given topic.

Everything we see on the internet was created; it is not a natural creation. In this unnatural world we see what we search for and in the landscape of our world we get to chose what we explore. With little boundaries and authority the internet is what the users make of it, and this power doesn’t always create the best environments. People become braver in this text and picture world of the internet; where you are only a click away from sharing a confession or thought to the seemingly faceless environment. Because of this, many people can put themselves into trouble from a moment of thoughtlessness. The anonymity of the internet can also bring about problems as people have the ability to recreate themselves or pretend to be someone else.

The internet can be as useful as it can be dangerous. If you venture into the web without a skeptical mindset, you can easily be deceived. People have the ability to steal others’ credit card information, social security numbers, and phone numbers by presenting information to you on the web you deem as truthful. Ultimately it is important to keep in mind that everything on the internet was created by people.
