The best way to begin your weekend is with a bit of Friday unwinding that starts at the workplace. On most Friday evenings, we try our best to include a bit of activity to end the week, sometimes with informative workshops or fun team building activities. On one such Friday, we hosted a photography workshop for our employees to enrich their picture talking skills when on the move. The workshop was taken by Mr. Arun Muthu, who is a self-taught photographer, traveler, pilot, sky-diver, food and wine connoisseur, among other things. He showed the team several photos he had clicked in the past and spoke about his most challenging pictures yet. He had also taken the time to talk about the various said and unsaid rules of photography. Needless to say, the workshop ignited a noticeable sense of excitement in the team who were waiting to get out and apply what they had just learned.

A photography competition soon after gave the team a good reason to be mindful of the various sights around them in office, during their commute home and on weekends. The prompt for the competition was “Capturing the little things in life”. A generic topic like this only meant more space for creativity and sure enough, the team delivered!

Out of all the entries, Arun picked out the below pictures that really stood out to him:

FIRST PRIZE

Photography By: Dinesh Kumar VA

“This image is extremely well composed and couldn’t have happened if the photographer didn’t have the vision to create the image. The colors, the textures, the darkness, the loneliness of the handles — all tell a story of the commuters that use the train daily.”

SECOND PRIZE

Photography By: Derric Lawrence

“I can’t quite tell what the frame around the picture is, but it’s beautiful. It captures the essence of Madras — Sun, heat, motta maadis (terraces), trees, and the chaos that makes up Madras.”

THIRD PRIZE

Photography By: Shoba Ekiri

“The light in this image is gorgeous. More than the beautiful horizon, the couple (I presume) having a stroll and a conversation. A very human connection.”
