I have recently published my first Google Chrome extension. After you complete coding your extension, the rest is not very complicated.

  • You go to Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard.
  • Then you fill in your developer details, contact info, privacy policy etc.
  • You pay a one-time application fee. In my case it was $5.
  • Go to the root directory of your extension i.e. the folder where you have your manifest.json file.
  • Zip the contents of the folder into a single file.
  • Then upload it to the Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard.

Review Process

Google Chrome extensions might request various permissions ranging from reading the contents of all pages to tab management. The more permission you request, the longer the review process will take.

My extension Hüseyin Demirtaş ile İngilizce Güzel Sözler requires very few permissions so it was available in the Chrome Web Store in a few hours.

Hüseyin Demirtaş ile İngilizce Güzel Sözler is an extension that shows carefully selected famous quotes every time you open a new tab.

Sample Screenshots

Below you can find screenshots of my Hüseyin Demirtaş ile İngilizce Güzel Sözler Chrome extension in action.

Reviews & Stats

Each extension has its separate page on the Chrome Web Store website just like the Hüseyin Demirtaş ile İngilizce Güzel Sözler extension. If you click on the link, it takes you the Chrome Web Store where you can install the extension, view the screenshot and read the reviews of the extension. As the developer you can respond to those reviews.

As for the stats regarding your Chrome extension, you should go to Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard. There when you select your published extension, you will see a stats tab and that is where you can get a detailed breakdown of install numbers for your extension.
