Webflow, a software company that helps businesses build no-code websites, recently announced that it has raised a $140 million Series B, pushing its valuation to 2.1 billion

What’s the big difference between Webflow and the web development tools that we’re familiar with, such as WordPress and Squarespace? As a semi-UI designer, who has used WordPress to build the website, jumping to a conclusion, it only takes me 5–6 hours to build the exact website which took me around two to three days on WordPress. I’m pretty sure that says a lot itself. The problem or obstacle that a no-coder faces a lot is, it’s the difficulty to transform your design into reality (either it’s a website or an App). However, Webflow shortens the gap, and the interface is the key. It improves the experience of building the website with more flexibility.

Since 2017, when GitHub’s founder stated that “The future of coding is no coding at all.” In the past few years, that statement has slowly transformed into reality. Including Webflow, we start seeing more and more no-code/low-code startups coming to our eye, for example, Unqork, a startup that helps large companies build, deploy, and manage complex applications without writing a single line of code. They prove the need of the market, how startups can build their MVP or how big corporates can run their digital transformation.

No-code is the future but not the whole future.

People are saying that these platforms are going to put the coders out of jobs, however, it’s totally the opposite. Having these platforms allows coders to focus on high-level problems and be able to build more sophisticated solutions. On the other hand, it might disrupt the non-coder market, knowing how to use a no-code platform will be an essential skill in the next 5–10 years. The requirements for a marketer, a designer, or a data analyst can be different. If you’re a UI designer, you might also need to be in charge of building the app or website, if you’re a Marketer, you might also need to build a module to assess the campaign. By using the platform, they can also increase their productivity by automating daily tasks and routines, and more importantly, the gap and communication barrier can be reduced between non-coders and coders. Non-coder will be able to build the prototype to demonstrate their ideas, instead of using random wording or sketch.

It’s interesting to see how these platforms are going to influence the world in the next few years. We can expect more non-programmer starting their tech startups, no matter what, if you haven’t used any of these tools before, go try it out now!
