Tech support for Macs makes startups more competitive

There was a time when the gulf between bootstrapped tech startup and fully funded enterprise was wide and filled with onerous yet unavoidable expenses like the high cost of buying and supporting hardware — both the workstations every employee requires and the servers powering the firm’s website and internal network.

One of the first great developments narrowing that gulf was shared cloud computing services, most notably AWS, which caused the cost of running and maintaining a secure website to plummet. Amazon stumbled onto this model after investing in their own infrastructure and realizing there was excess capacity to leverage.

It’s generally understood that Silicon Valley culture — and thus tech startup culture in general — favors Macs, but this preference has long been stymied by the fact that for a growing company implementing systematically-applied tech support, investing in the physical resources required to support both Macs and Windows machines can be impractical. Consequently, many startups choose to support only Windows.

This, in turn, puts Windows-only startups at a disadvantage as true Mac-devotees often take the inability to work in a comfortable digital environment into account when making career decisions.

The good news is, the AWS equivalent of tech support of Macs has arrived.

Trusource Labs (TSL), an Everise company now known as Everise PX, is an Austin-based firm that offers remote tech support for Macs, at a cost dramatically lower than that required for a startup to implement a full on-prem support regime. TSL agents are fully certified, available 24x7 and able to support Apple hardware through the product lifecycle, in addition to supporting soft resources meant to help users solve their own problems.

Like Amazon, TSL identified this opportunity after investing in the resources needed to support their own users, then recognizing there was excess capacity to leverage.

In a competitive tech talent hiring environment like that which we’re experiencing now, every advantage helps. Startups unable to support Macs are at a disadvantage relative to those who can.

Contact Everise PX to learn how you can put their remote Mac support services to work for you.
