January 31st: Party Time on the Isle of Nauru!
Pleasant Island.
It was 55 years ago that the isle of Nauru (pronounced “nah-OO-roo”) became a sovereign nation. Today, in the midst of the Pacific Ocean — 25 miles south of the equator and 2400 miles northeast of Sydney, Australia — the islanders are celebrating with parades, carnivals, beachfront cookouts, and more.
