They inspired us, gave us food for thought and sparked conversations.

Our January theme, Every New Beginning Counts motivated us to stay committed to achieving our goals in 2013. There were so many great resources, ideas, and people who graced our blog this month. They inspired us, gave us food for thought and sparked conversations. It’s hard to just narrow it down to a handful, but these are our picks this month for yet one more new blog section: 5 Women We Love

1) Trista Hedren — Author of the book, The Girl God — for giving us a fresh way to present God to our daughters.

2) Lynn Paltrow — Founder of National Advocates for Pregnant Women and the author of the study on how Row V Wade and personhood laws affect every woman, for her forthright and enlightening viewpoint on how this subject isn’t pro-life or pro-choice. It’s about women, period.

3) Nikki Myers — for showing us how powerful yoga is for making personal changes stick.

4) Debra Pascali-Bonaro — for giving us another opportunity to say these words: Orgasmic Birth.

5) Lady Sybil Crawley — In memoriam for a fictional character who sparked the most important conversation this month about how maternal mortality can affect any mother.

And our “Man of the Month?” John Kerry — Our new Secretary of State, because we know he’ll pick up fighting for women everywhere where Secretary Clinton left off.
