Every Mother Counts discusses a survey conducted by Childbirth Connection, a leading resource hub for all-things maternal health regarding US women’s childbirth experiences.

Childbirth Connection, a leading resource hub for all-things maternal health-related has recently released several surveys regarding US women’s childbirth experiences. They’re enlightening because they ask women questions that really address what they know, how they learn, what they feel, think, experience and expect about their pregnancy and childbirth experiences. They’ve recently released data from new surveys that provide answers to some pretty big questions. For example:

Many are doing fine, but many are pretty concerned about pain, stress, infection, exhaustion and wellness and many met the criteria for postpartum depression.

While most are fully aware of recommended breastfeeding guidelines (like exclusive breastfeeding for six months or more), only slightly more than half planned to follow them. What stands in their way? Hospital policies, short maternity leaves, breast pain, work hassles and more.

Most seem pretty happy, but there are some reservations.

Check out the latest data, insights and ideas from Childbirth Connection here. There’s some interesting stuff in these surveys that just might surprise you.
