This summer, check our blog frequently to learn how how Every Mother Counts is addressing three major barriers to maternal health.

“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” — Maya Angelou

Schools out for some and nearly out for others. It’s time for another seasonal transition and hopefully a slightly slower pace. For the last couple of years, we’ve celebrated this season by naming it and setting an intention. The Summer of Sisterhood is our way of sharing information with others to bring us all closer together as a community. This summer, we hope to grow what we started. We invite you to grow with us by going with us to the communities we support together. We’ll be going to Malawi, Uganda, Haiti, Indonesia and Florida. We want to share with you the projects and partners we’re working with and the mothers we’re helping access critical maternity care throughout their pregnancies. Through our grants we are addressing three major barriers: Education, transportation and supplies.

Over the next few months, check our blog frequently to learn about how lack of supplies, education and transportation lead to poor maternal health and maternal mortality around the world for millions of mothers. Then, find out how EMC’s work helps provide solutions and stay tuned for some ideas on how you can get involved supporting moms at home and abroad this summer.
