Sally’s our kind of gal. As an avid runner and mother, she followed her passion, recognized a need and stepped in to meet it.

We’re excited about the marathon coming up, thrilled about all the 5Ks happening all over the country and grateful that while we’re training, running, sweating and wondering why we signed up to do this again, we’ll be wearing gorgeous, moisture-wicking running clothes made by our partners at Oiselle. Making sure we look good while we pound out mile after 26.2 miles, Sally has our backs. That’s why we’re giving Sally Bergesen and Oiselle a special shout out.

Sally’s our kind of gal. As an avid runner and mother, she followed her passion, recognized a need and stepped in to meet it. As Sally describes it, when she went shopping for new running clothes, everything was, “Too poofy, too baggy, too high-waisted, and all wrong in the color department.” Sally totally gets the value of style-meets-function and when she couldn’t find running clothes that fit, performed and looked the way she knew women needed them to, she created her own line and a new company. Now in their sixth year in business, Oiselle’s collection combines quality, design and a commitment to make a difference in the running community and the world at large. It was just that innovative spark and ability to recognize when opportunity is knocking that drew Oiselle and Every Mother Counts together.

One day this summer, Sally was reviewing her Twitter feed when Christy’s tweet caught her eye: Wake Up America. Everyone Benefits When Everyone Benefits. Kindred soul that she is, Sally re-tweeted and then noticed that Christy was hanging out in Seattle, Oiselle and Sally’s home base. Not one to be shy about making connections (and no, Christy and Sally didn’t know each other before this fateful tweeting), Sally invited Christy to accompany her on a nice, long, Seattle run, I mean, since she was in town and all. Christy was booked, but returned the invitation to meet up later in the day, discuss running, maternal health and how they might team up. Turns out that was a match made in marathon/maternal health heaven and Oiselle quickly became the official Every Mother Counts outfitter.

T-shirts, hoodies, arm warmers, and singlets all flashing Every Mother Counts’ logo are available here and Oiselle is donating 40% of every purchase to our efforts to promote maternal health. Oh and just to highlight another way Sally is our kind of gal: She’s one heck of a blogger. Check out Oiselle’s running blog here.
