Thanks to your support, we were able to collect hundreds of supplies for moms and their babies in Uganda. Learn more.

Every Mother Kits poured in from all over America in box after box of zip-lock bags filled with baby hats and diapers, blankets and sheets, soap, gauze and other essential items needed for a safe birth in countries where far too often, mothers have nothing. The response from those of you who answered EMC’s call to action and organized or contributed to our supply kit drive was nothing short of inspiring. Your enthusiasm and willingness to help mothers in Africa to have basic but desperately needed birth supplies (which are currently unavailable or unaffordable in their communities) is a real testament to how moms can and do support one another. In a word, your support is “awesome.”

There were make-a-kit parties and company kit drives. Schools, churches and clubs organized to make Supplies for Safe Birth Kits by the boxful and their combined efforts delivered hundreds of kits to our offices. We received so many kits they were stacked on tables and chairs, all over the floor and they filled every corner. Jokes were made that our offices looked like we were hoarders and still, more and more kits arrived. Young women from a local mosque donated 200 kits. City employees from Utah donated dozens. A woman from Montreal drove all the way to our office to deliver her cache of kits. They came in from New York, California, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Maine, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. They’ll go to clinics and mothers in Uganda via our partners at SMGL, Baylor Uganda and Project Cure. One by one, mothers will collect their kits at prenatal visits and bring them with them when it’s time to deliver. These kits aren’t just gifts. They’re not baby-showers-in-a-bag. They’re lifesavers that will make the difference for some women between having the supplies they need to deliver at a safe birth facility with trained healthcare workers and having nothing and delivering at home.

Our supply drive is now officially over, but check the website frequently because we’re getting ready to launch our next call to action, just in time for Mothers Day. Thank you for every kit and for making sure that Every Mother Counts.
