I (virtually) sat down with a bunch of Digital girlfriends for a vent / Twitter chat this week about our health and wellbeing. Here’s what we discussed:

Q1 Why are we all so tired and stressed out?

Life is a juggle, we are overly busy and try to fit too much in. We run around after children, partners, colleagues all day and don’t really have time for ourselves. Some of us take a day job alongside management of household duties. Often too it’s mental stress and with aging, our bodies are haywire with baby hormones through to menopause. We are operating beyond our bandwidth.

Q2 What’s your go to activity to de-stress?

We love yoga, swimming, cycling, anything active really! Getting outdoors in the garden or in nature is also amazing for stress. Me time treats like pedicures or massages are also on the list. Some of us try our head at meditation, but we often find we’re doing our To Do Lists.

Probably counter-intuitive, but wine is the go-to if exercise falls through. Sometimes you just need that wine o’clock quick fix once the kids are in bed and there’s another hour or 2 of work ahead of you….

And Love Island. (Although it’s finished now, so what the hell are we supposed to do?)

Q3 In the perfect world, what are your health and wellbeing goals?

We want to eat healthier, cut out sugar, reduce alcohol.

We want to have more time for exercise, to get back to those crazy Spin classes we used to make time for before having children.

We want to be more positive and have better relationships. We want to make time for family and friends.

We want to improve our energy levels and get more sleep.

We also want to look like Cindy Crawford. (That’s completely possible!)

Q4 What’s one thing you could change to improve your health and wellbeing?

We need to be more selfish. We need to stop prioritising everyone else and schedule me time to go for a run or go out with friends without feeling guilty that household chores aren’t done!

And win the lottery so we can employ a cook, housekeeper, nanny and masseuse :)
