A database is where information, data, and analysis related to each other are stored. It is a data collection that stores organized information and is structured to make it easily accessible, manageable, and updateable. It is where information is categorized and stored.

All your transactions and information on the internet are stored in databases. Your bank transactions, messages, photos, everything you can think of is stored in databases.

Large organizations such as the public, banks, and businesses attach great importance to databases. because they can reach the information of millions of people in a very short time and take action on them.

For example, when you log into the mobile application of a bank or institution, you can see all the previous transactions you have made, thanks to the database.

Software is required to manage and create a database and to perform many operations. this software is called Database Management System.

Database Management System

The database management system is software used to manage the database. These are the software packages needed to create and maintain the database. It was first designed by Charles Bachman in the 1960s and has been used to this day.

It enables users to access databases and process data. It facilitates monitoring and control activities regarding databases. In this way, it enables events such as performance monitoring, backup, and recovery.

Most Popular Database Systems

MySQL:

It is a multi-threaded, multi-user, fast and robust database management system on more than 6 million systems. It was established in 1995. It is a free and open-source program that supports the standard query language. It is the most used system and should be known in this field.

Oracle:

Oracle is a software company. It is the second-largest software company after Microsoft. This company has a database system called an oracle. Oracle is the most affordable and cost-effective way to manage information and applications. Although it is not used individually, it is mostly used institutionally. It is in great demand as it can process large data very quickly, regardless of its size.

PostgreSQL:

PostgreSQL is a database management system that uses the relational model for databases and supports the standard query language. It works on almost all operating systems. At the same time, it is a database management system that gives a good performance, is safe, and has wide features.

Data Centers

Finally, I will talk about the data center. A data center is a facility that hosts additional systems such as computer systems and data warehouse systems. These facilities, also known as server rooms, are the areas where the servers and data warehouses of the enterprises are located.

Today I explained databases, database management systems, and data centers. I will give information about data science in our next article. Thank you for reading.
