Computer data is data that is processed or stored by a computer. Almost all smart devices such as the phone and computer you use to store all the transactions you do in the back, and these are called data. This data can be of many types such as audio, text, and images.

Data alone do not make sense. The data can be used repeatedly. After the data is collected, it becomes meaningful when they are organized, summarized, analyzed, and processed by people or computers and transformed into information.

Although the terms “data” and “information” are often used interchangeably, these terms have different meanings.

The data have no meaning alone, need to be processed, raw, disorganized; numbers are words and objects.

Information is formed when data are processed, organized, or analyzed and presented for use.

What are the Types of Data?

Since too much data is used, it will be easier for us to separate the data. We will divide the data into qualitative data and quantitative data.

Quantitative Data:

Quantitative data can be counted, measured, and often expressed using numbers. Quantitative data are generally a data group that can be statistically analyzed with mathematical calculations.

Quantitative data are divided into two as discrete and continuous.

Discrete data is a type of data obtained by counting within a certain interval. Integers should be used in these data. Continuous data are data found by measurement. These data can be integers or decimals.

Qualitative Data:

Qualitative data are descriptive and conceptual. It can be categorized according to the features. More textual expressions are used.

Qualitative data are divided into two as ordered and unordered.

Unordered data; can be categorized, but sometimes it cannot be sorted, only remaining within the category For example, we can sort people according to their illnesses, but we cannot rank them. In sequential data, we can both categorize and sort. As an example, we can list people according to their salaries.

What Are Data Collection Methods?

Process data:

It is also called data processing. Data is collected, processed and the result is revealed to produce meaningful information. For example, the sites you click on the internet are taken as transaction data, and advertisements are displayed accordingly.

Web Data:

It is a general term that refers to any kind of data you can retrieve from the internet. For example, a website can pull data such as how many clicks or how much a product is purchased.

Sensor Data:

They are data produced by their objects. For example, devices such as your phone and smartwatch generate data about your life such as your walking and sleep. Sensor data is used in many places and makes life even easier.

Data mining

Data mining is the process of extracting usable data from large data sets. Different software and algorithms are used to extract data from large clusters more easily. It has applications in many fields such as science and research. Businesses use it in advertising, customer, sales, and marketing. This helps businesses make better decisions.

The data subject is of course not that short. It has many topics such as databases and big data. We have a lot more to tell. But for now, I have explained the introduction as a summary. Thank you for reading.
