20 EVE — Pragmaticism Two
Eve thought of Juliette Peirce, the vaguely-identified European lady Peirce took up with after being divorced by one Harriet Melusina Fay, a staid New England woman of good family.
Had Stanley Kubrick been making movies a century earlier than he did, Harriet would have been the perfect person to represent on screen the explosion of her marriage to the volatile, quasi-Bohemian Peirce. It would have been a black comedy to rival “Strangelove”.
In any case, Juliette was perfectly designed to set the teeth of New England Brahmins on edge. In the worst case, she was a Gypsy.
