A Gilded Thing

So for The Weekly Knob I had a hard time deciding which one to submit. This is the one that was not submitted, but I’ll share it here. Hope you like it.
Evenings are full of smiles draped in
satin, lace, with starched shirts,
jewels sparkling as the champagne is poured.
Whispers sigh through the room in
beautiful accompaniment to the cigar smoke,
as fingertips touch and glances
drift to the side.
Slip of a thing glides through the room
averting her gaze to the floor,
slipping her secret lovers note
into her gilded silver box.
She keeps her secret smile in place
as she kisses the side of her
champagne glass.
