Overshadowing everything is the oil reality — the moving force which transcends all binary factors. Against terminal oil, the new reality is undetermined though emerging. It is completely out of our current politics. Do not fault anyone. Nobody can profess knowledge they lack. The best guess is that everything is upended and that it involves the utter change of what work is, what energy is, what life itself is. It goes past religion and past all of our current wisdom. To think of what will become real to all is a worthy objective and a more relevant pursuit than crying over spilled milk. Beyond GOP-neoliberal futilities, what comes cannot be made into political statements and fortunately are largely immune to political tinkering. Reality has a mind it seeks to harmonize with us. When that harmony is difficult we face moments like today.
