I told you that heaven calls

It calls in several ways

It is a gentle rain that falls

When love commands our days

It was and is what Jesus said

Abba is near at hand

And by ourselves we can be led

As we can understand

And deeper as we do relate

In daily one-to-one

Our interchange is more our fate

When Abba’s will is done

And so a story can be told

How one voice reached my ear

It did not come out of the cold

Abba made it appear

Thus I infer heaven to be

Within us and beyond

A part of all reality

With whom we all can bond

And freedom lives there just as here

That is the lesson learned

A tandem movement it seems clear

Not by righteousness earned

A moving cosmos plies its way

Toward justice peace and love

And no religion can hold sway

When nothing stands above
