Jesus talks of heaven I am sure

I am less sure all that’s writ is what he said

But I am most sure of what I infer

Heaven is. And Abba is not dead

2

Of angels I am less sure though it seems

They are like what I take our fate to be

Ones with whom Abba is unified

Who on occasion can with us abide

3

Deep within I know I have been moved

By contact sensed although it is unproved

I know of one who sought me from the blue

I know what he enabled me to do

4

That heaven is a realm seems past all doubt

If only in a mind that thinks it’s so

To pray to Abba is almost a little shout

And then there is the prayer we all should know

5

It is the prayer that Jesus taught to all

The one that says the father’s holy name

Not God before whom all the world must fall

But Abba bearing love minus the blame

6

The prayer says heaven is where Abba lives

The prayer suggests the purpose of all life

When we confess our wrongs Abba forgives

We are to build a world past hurt and strife

7

We cannot credit such simplicity

And so we shrug at the word ‘heavenly’

Making the world thus is no aim of ours

We prefer principalities and powers
