About Taking Sides

Much in our world
is cut into two
Either-or expresses
yes or no
Save us from such
harmful binaries
Save us from
simple finalities

Ω

Conflict comes
when there’s no other way
It’s this or that
as if we had no say
But consciousness
makes all time ever new
And ever new our choice
of what to do

Ω

Help us to see
always the third option
Help us in the face of
real harm
Enable us to plumb
the best solutions
The ones to warm
a cold and fearful heart
