An effective response to ISIS will signal a recognition of what evil is

Evil is harm. Reducing harm is what defeating ISIS is about.

Oddly, the biggest win an effective response to ISIS would signal is an understanding that evil is the enemy.

Evil is harm. Conscious, willed harm.

There are gradations of evil but the reality is tangible and universal.

Victory is the reduction of evil universally.

We cannot defeat ISIS if the structures of evil we consciously create are left in place. It is that simple.

If we are at a global moment of change, the change should embrace the globe and reduce the evils of

poverty

denial of rights

and everything else on the chart above that descends into the very worst of evils.
